I drafted an email to a running club today that offered their support (thank you Marlborough Running Club!), and thought you might appreciate an update, so here's a summary of what I wrote.... "It has been a tough few weeks; you will know that there is always plenty of planning and preparation when organising a race, and there isn’t much ‘slack’ to deal with any issues that happen, so you can imagine that the issue of replacing all our kit that was destroyed in the fire is pretty enormous and – initially at least – it seemed quite overwhelming." "But we have been heartened and encouraged by the outpouring of support from our regular runners and the running community in general. If there had been a few days when we considered throwing in the towel, those have now gone and we are even more committed to the 2026 event!" We are all systems go. Already, we have the race licence agreed with the Trail Running Association (TRA), we have the designs for the new medal finalised with RunningImp, we have the Loos and First Aid booked, and we have the Traffic Management contractors agreed. You may have heard of the fire that destroyed all our Hoppit equipment early on Monday morning. We’ve lost our gazebos, marquees, arch, signage, flags, banners, and more, all accumulated over the past 10 years. It’s been a sad day; meanwhile the long process of claiming against our insurance has started. We have plenty of time to recover and replace, and are confident that 14 June 2026 will be our best event yet! Entries are now open, and if you are confident that you will be a Hoppit runner in June, then your early entry would be appreciated because we will have a demand on cash flow in the next few weeks as we start our replenishment of the destroyed items. ...
